Patricia "Pat" A. Sharpe

Of Jackson, Michigan, passed away on May 30, 2018 at the age of 88. Pat was born on Oct 6, 1929 in Jackson, Michigan to Arnold and Mary Kiessling. She graduated from St. Lawrence School of Nursing in Lansing in 1950 and pursued a diverse career as a registered nurse for over 40 years. Pat married the love of her life, Richard Sharpe, on September 23, 1950 and was married 56 years to Richard until his death in 2006. Pat dedicated her life to her family, faith, community, and patriotism. She was a tireless volunteer for numerous charities including United Way, Alzheimer’s Association, RSVP, and various church and school committees. She enjoyed numerous activities including traveling, knitting, baking, and socializing with friends. She also had an insatiable sweet tooth for chocolate and ice cream, and an unwavering Spartan fan. Pat is survived by her children, Joanne (Joseph Matesa), Jamey (Lea), Thomas (Debora), and Timothy (Amy); five grandchildren; three adopted grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and four sisters and two brothers. She is preceded in death by one sister and three brothers. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, June 5, at St. John Catholic Church, 711 N. Francis Street at 11:00 am with visitation from 10:00 am until time of service. She will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband at Roseland Memorial Gardens. In her memory, the family suggests a donation to a charity that benefits veterans.
