Of Jackson, MI passed away on February 15, 2014 at the age of 97. She was born in Flint, MI to Ernest and Pauline Newberry on September 17, 1916. She married the love of her life, Edgar Steelman on November 6, 1934 in West Branch, MI. Eugenia is survived by her daughter, Pauline Taylor; granddaughters, Eugenia (Leonard) Lockwood, Kim (L.J.) Wilkinson, Kristenia (Gregory) Pittman, Hillary (Christopher) Knapp; great grandchildren, Pauline Gamble, Benjamin Plum, Melissa Owens, Cameron Acker, Katrina Acker, Lauren Aberle, Matthew Aberle, Sydney Knapp and Logan Knapp; several great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edgar Steelman; son, John Steelman; one brother and one sister. Eugenia was the heartbeat of the family and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She was a founding member of St. James Lutheran Church and a founder of Hope School. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at 1:00pm at St. James Lutheran Church (4425 S. Jackson Rd. Jackson MI 49201) with visitation held on Friday, February 21, 2014 from 2:00-4:00pm and 6:00-8:00pm. She will be laid to rest at Roseland Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. James Lutheran Church.
