Of Pleasant Lake, passed away on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at the age of 85. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Glen Ferguson; son, Robert William Ferguson and five siblings. She will be remembered by her four children, John H. Ferguson, Jay (Virginia) Ferguson, Peggy (James) Booth and Dale Ferguson; twelve grandchildren, many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; brother, Grant (Arlene) Dale; sister, Joyce Martin as well as nieces, nephews, loving family members and friends. Dixie was one of eight children born on November 26, 1930 the day before Thanksgiving, to Harry and Olga (Borrusch) Dale in Detroit, MI. Dixie was a proud and loving homemaker. She volunteered with many organizations to include, Girl Scouts and was chosen to do the pilot program, Daisy Girl Scouts; a member of the Lions Club, where she helped raise funds by selling White Canes; the American Legion and raised funds by selling Poppys. She was extremely active in the community and was always willing to help others when she was able. She distributed commodities to families in need at the Henrietta/Waterloo Center. She was a site leader with the department of aging and the Senior Center. Dixie was also made an Honorary Firefighter in Henreitta Township and was recognized for all of the love and support she has offered. She enjoyed spending time with family and touched the hearts and lives of many. Dixie was definitely a woman of her time and made a difference. She had a strong Faith in the Lord and was a member of Jeruel Baptist Church (11400 Plum Orchard Road Munith, MI 49254), where a celebration of her life will be held at on Friday, September 9, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Bob Castle officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation at Chas. J. Burden & Son Funeral Home on Thursday from 1:00 to 3:00 and 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Munith.
