Mr. Claude Charles Patterson, of Jackson, passed away peacefully at his home in Novi, Michigan on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 with his family by his side. He was 90 years old. Born in Blendon Township, MI on September 30, 1926, Claude previously lived in Zeebrugge, Belgium and Statesville, NC. Claude proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII from 1943 to 1946. He retired from Clark Equipment, and was also employed at Hancock and Areoquip. Claude loved his country and was a hard-working man. Claude was a devoted husband of over 71 years to his wife, Janice and loved traveling and camping the National Parks with their three daughters. An avid gardener and craftsman, Claude enjoyed building in his woodworking shop and had a passion for creating gadgets. Enjoying a good Belgian beer and a real cup of black coffee were his other pleasures in life. A devoted family man, Claude spent as much time with his wife, his three children and his four grandchildren as possible. Claude was predeceased by his parents, Claude Sr. and Edith (Woods); daughters, Regina Burnham and Claudette Reed; his sisters, Elnore Lowe and Elizabeth Olmstead; brothers, Roger and Duane. He is survived by his wife, Janice; daughter, Deborah (Robert) Rais; sisters, Natalie, Nancy, and Yvonne; brothers, Wally, Pat, Glenn, and Don. Claude is also survived by four grandchildren: Seth, Abel, Deborah, and Elizabeth and eight great-grandchildren. A service honoring Mr. Paterson will be on Monday, July 17, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. at Chas. J. Burden & Son Funeral Home. The visitation will be held on Sunday from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. Mr. Patterson will be laid to rest at Roseland Memorial Gardens with military honors. In lieu of flowers, contributions to D.A.V. would be greatly appreciated.
