Bill "Uncle Bill" Maxson

Of Rives Junction, passed away at his home on Friday, October 28, 2011 at the age of 78. He is survived by his wife Pat Maxson; children, Bruce Maxson, Brian (Lou Ann) Maxson, Beth Maxson, Jay (Pam Richardson) Martin, Karol Martin, Kristi (Paul) Strawn; grandchildren, Crystal, Adam and Alex Maxson; great grandson, Owen Maxson and other step grandchildren and great grandchildren; his first wife, Barbara (Jack) Olson; siblings, Ron (Peg) Maxson, Phyllis (Howard) Dillion, Fred (Carolyn) Maxson; also many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death just recently by his mother at the age of 99 also daughter in-law, Jamie Maxson. He was born to Orsin and Annis Maxson in Allen, MI. After graduating from Jackson High School he served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He retired from the Jackson County Road Commission after many years of service. He was a past member of the V.F.W., Eagles 612, American Legion, the Lions as well as the Forty and Eight. He operated "Uncle Bill's" Pony rides for 25 years. He donated much time and efforts to local charities. He was especially helpful with time and financial contributions to Lyle Torrant. A memorial service honoring his life is scheduled at the funeral home on Saturday, November 5, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. with Reverend James Keat officiating, followed by military honors. Family will receive friends for visitation from 12:00 noon until the time of service. In lieu of flowers those who wish may make memorial contributions in his honor to Lyle Torrant.
