William Hugh Simpson Jr.

Mr. Simpson was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Lucille Simpson, and his brother, Michael Simpson. He is survived by Misse Simpson of Columbia, South Carolina; his son, Charlie (Jenifer) Simpson of Mobile, Alabama; two grandchildren, Andrew Simpson and Catie Simpson of Mobile, Alabama; one brother, Joe (Reba) Simpson of Rutherfordton, North Carolina; as well as a niece, two nephews, and friends.

He was born in Rutherfordton, North Carolina and graduated from Western Carolina University before a long professional career as a computer analyst with AlliedSignal Corporation. As well as being an avid reader, he was a lifelong sports fan. He enjoyed spending time in the mountains and pampering all the family pets. He spent a number of years volunteering with the Boy Scouts of America for which he served as Scoutmaster, was heavily involved in adult leader training and was presented the Silver Beaver Award in addition to numerous other recognitions.

The family will receive visitors on Friday, August 6, at 2:00 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 3:00 p.m. at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel in Irmo, South Carolina with a graveside service and interment on Saturday, August 7, at 11:00 a.m. at Round Hill Baptist Church in Union Mills, North Carolina.
