Thomas Brian Henderson passed on January 22, 2020 at the age of fifty-five in Irmo, South Carolina. Brian is survived by his wife of 26 years, Jocelyn Henderson, and his four children: Matthew Henderson (Sarah), Rachel Henderson, Ryan Henderson, and Christopher Henderson. He is also survived by his parents Tommy and Melinda Henderson of Asheville, NC, and his brother Greg Henderson (Adrienne), of Summerfield, NC.
Brian Henderson was born at Fort Dix, New Jersey and grew up in Asheville, North Carolina. He graduated from Asheville High School and attended college at Virginia Tech and UNC- Greensboro. From a young age, Brian was an avid baseball player and fan. He played baseball for Spartanburg Methodist and Virginia Tech. In 1985, he held the record for most games played; in 1987, he held the record for most stolen bases for the Virginia Tech Hokies. He enjoyed coaching all three of his sons in Irmo Little League Baseball, supporting his daughter at her dance recitals, and cheering for the Clemson Tigers football team. For the past few years, Brian worked as a Production Control Manager at KMS Fabrication in West Columbia, South Carolina. He spent most weekends grilling on the back porch with his family and friends and took pride in supporting his family in all of their endeavors.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, MUSC Hollings Cancer Center, or donor’s choice.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at Union United Methodist Church. Following the service, there will be a visitation at the church.
