A Requiem Mass for Patrick George Grogan, 50, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 4, 2014 at The Church of the Good Shepherd (Episcopal) 1512 Blanding Street, Columbia, SC. Interment will be in the Memorial Garden of the church followed by a reception in the Parish Hall. The family will receive friends Friday, October 3, 2014 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, Irmo. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials may be made to the Diabetes Association, 7021 St. Andrews Road, Suite 100A, Columbia, SC 29204.
Patrick died Wednesday, October 1, 2014 in Columbia. He was born on July 29, 1964 in Columbia and lived in Columbia his whole life. He was a 1982 graduate of Irmo High School. He attended Francis Marion University and the University of South Carolina. He received a degree in Nuclear Medicine from Midlands Technical College and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Health Science from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, where he graduated Cum Laude.
At the time of his death, Patrick was employed by Insight Imaging where he traveled all over the state administering various nuclear tests at many different hospitals.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra “Sandy” Grogan of Columbia; son, Bradley “Brad” Grogan (Caroline) of Cashiers, NC; daughter Marissa Grogan Grzandziel (Devin) of Columbia; granddaughter, Mabry Grogan of Cashiers, NC.
He is also survived his mother, Mildred Meriwether Peeples Pemberton of Columbia; his step-father Roger Pemberton of Columbia. He was predeceased by his father, George Barry Grogan. He is also survived by his brothers, Michael Andrew Grogan of Irmo and Christopher Peeples Grogan of Columbia and by two nieces, Lauren Michael Grogan and Ashley Nicole Grogan of Irmo. He is also predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Lucile Copeland Peeples and Andrew Peeples of Bamberg. He is also predeceased by his maternal uncle Andrew Peeples, Jr. of Chapin.
Patrick was a lifelong member of The Church of the Good Shepherd (Episcopal) in Columbia where he served as an acolyte as a boy.
Patrick was a wonderful son, brother, husband, father and grandfather. He never met a stranger and was truly loved by everyone who came in contact with him. He always had a smile and a positive attitude and was a kind and loving person who will be sorely missed by all. We are all thankful to have been touched by him and we know that God is smiling on him and holding him in the palm of His hand and welcoming him to His heavenly kingdom.
