Pearl Smith Carpenter, of Columbia, SC, beloved mom, wife, aunt and sister, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2024, at the age of 94. Born on July 18, 1930, in Danville, Kentucky to the late Sam Mack and Martha Price Smith. Along with her parents she is predeceased by her husband Aubrey L. Carpenter Jr., her sons Sammy J. Yater and Keith W. Carpenter, and her sisters Kathryn Smith Cormney and Frances Smith Dunn.
Pearl was a devoted homemaker and a talented painter and needlework artist. She was known for her kind heart, creating beautiful works of art, and her fierce love for her family.
She is survived by her beloved children, Sarah E. Carpenter, Tammy L. Carpenter, and Dennis W. Carpenter, her nephew Larry C. (Carla) Cormney, her grandchildren Brandon, Benjamin, Sarah, and Ellen, her great-grandchildren Bowie, Adelynn, Madux and Margo, as well as her sisters-in-law, Carol G. Carpenter and Gloria C. Prince and many beloved nieces and nephews. Pearl’s adoration for her family was palpable, and her warm spirit made everyone she met feel loved and cherished.
There will be a gathering of friends and family at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at Stith Funeral Home in Danville. Followed by a graveside service at 12 p.m., Tuesday, November 12, 2024, to honor Pearl’s life will be held at the Hustonville Cemetery.
The family would like to extend a special heartfelt thank you to Dr. James Benedict and the nursing staff of 6th Floor South at Lexington Medical and the staff at Interim Hospice for their loving care.
Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know and love her.
