Frances Simon Richardson

Services for Frances Simon Richardson will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at Virginia Wingard Memorial United Methodist Church, followed by burial at Crescent Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Church prior to the service.

Mrs. Richardson died on Thursday, August 31, 2023. Born in Columbia, S. C. she was the daughter of the late Melver M. and Dovie Simon. She was a retired nurse, serving as liaison for the American Association of Doctor's Nurses. She was honored as Business and Professional Woman of the Year in 1975. She was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels for several years. She was a charter member of Virginia Wingard Church where she served as District Treasurer, past president of United Methodist Women, teacher of the Ladies Bible Class, former director of the Children's Choir, member of the Chancel Choir, and past lay delegate to the Annual Conference.

Surviving are sons Ronald Richardson of Gilbert, Alan (Lynda) Richardson of Columbia, grandson Stephen of Simpsonville, grandson Bryan (Kayce) of Columbia, granddaughter Stacey (Todd) Sanders of Fla. and grandson Duane (Michele) of Elgin, S.C., great-grandchildren Austin and Haleigh Sanders, Payton Richardson, and Garrett and Miller Richardson.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marion (Buddy) Richardson, brothers Melvin M. Simon, Jr. and Carl E. Simon, sisters Mary S. Ready and Edna S. Free.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Minister's Outreach Fund or Music Fund of Virginia Wingard Church, 1500 Broad River Road, Columbia, S.C. 29210.
