A funeral service for Frances “Fran” Mitchell Levy, 62, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 18, 2024 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, at 7600 Woodrow Street in Irmo with inurnment in Greenhaven Memorial Gardens in Elgin. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, October 17, 2024, at the funeral home.
We would like to request that everyone attending the funeral service on Friday wear Clemson, or at least orange and purple, in her honor. Whenever we discussed her funeral, usually at other funerals or visitations, she would always say she wanted people to be comfortable at hers. She didn’t really enjoy having to get all dressed up.
Mrs. Levy died Sunday, October 6, 2024. Born in Columbia, SC on April 27, 1962, she was the daughter of Robert E. Mitchell and Marjorie T. Mitchell.
She was a graduate of Irmo High School. Her most recent employment included Walmart on Bush River Road from July 2009 to January 2021 and later at the Ballantine location from February 2021 until her death. Prior to Walmart, she was a manager at the BP in Elgin.
Fran loved her family. She loved being an aunt but loved being a “graunty” even more (a great aunt, but she wanted to be called graunty because it sounded cooler and better) to Elijah who we call him Eli.
She loved her Clemson tigers. We had a tradition of watching as many games together as we could. We always made a point to watch the playoff games and especially the national championship games together, even if it meant staying up extra late on a work night.
She loved going to Edisto Beach, even if only for a day trip. She had been going since she was a child with her mom and aunts and we continued the tradition. We tried to go as much as we could. She loved when we got to spend the week there as a family. She even got married to her husband Charlie on the beach.
Surviving are her brother, David G. Mitchell (Sherri); niece, Kimberly M. Fiorello (Daniel); and great nephew, Elijah C. Fiorello.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Charlie Levy.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl. Memphis, TN 38105. https://www.stjude.org/give.html
