CHAPIN – Emily Fisher Manley (nee Rotureau), 91, passed away from natural causes and went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 6, 2021. Mrs. Manley was born on Duncan Street in Shandon on March 22, 1930 to Jacob Bennett Rotureau Sr. and Hazel Veronee Rotureau. She graduated from Dreher High School in 1947 and married J. Bruce Fisher on April 24, 1949. They were married for 50 years until his death in 1999. She was married to Marvin Manley of Clinton until his death in 2014. Mrs. Manley managed and later became owner of the family business, Rotureau Electric Company, located in both Greenville and Columbia. She was a faithful and active member of Salem United Methodist Church in Ballentine for many years.
Mrs. Manley was predeceased by two brothers and a sister; a son, James “Jimmy” Bruce Fisher Jr.; and three grandchildren: Ben Fisher of Myrtle Beach, and Ryan Timmerman and Justin Timmerman of Chapin. Mrs. Manley will always be remembered for her love of and devotion to her extended family, her joyful and energetic spirit, and her love of dancing – especially the Shag.
She is survived by son, David B. Fisher (Andrea) of Columbia; daughter, Maria Fisher Timmerman (Tony) of Chapin; grandchildren, James Bradford Fisher (Kimberly), Emily Fisher Ellis (Andy), Anna Grace Fisher Burke (Eric), David Bennett Fisher Jr., Bruce Wynton Timmerman; great-grandchildren, McKinley Fisher and Thomas Burke.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, April 8, 2021, at Salem United Methodist Church, with burial in the churchyard. The family will receive friends one hour prior at the church. Limited seating and mask are required.
