Christopher was born in El Paso Texas on April 26, 1974 to William Eric DeYoung and Barbara Joan Bannister. He lived there for several years before moving to South Carolina where he spent most of his childhood.
Christopher was a proud Army veteran with a distinguished military record. He participated in multiple combat missions and received a significant number of military medals and honors.
After leaving the Army, Christopher returned to South Carolina and went back to school where he found a talent for computers. He entered the IT industry and became a computer network architect with a particular fondness for solving problems others could not figure out.
Christopher’s favorite pastimes included fishing, golf, baseball, and football. He could often be found out on Lake Murray fishing for bass or rooting for his beloved Carolina Gamecocks football team.
Christopher is survived by his wife of 27 years, Janna DeYoung; his children Hunter, Zachary and Ashtyn DeYoung; his parents Eric and Nicole DeYoung; his sister Dr. Kristen Pitts; his brother Evan DeYoung; as well as his two nieces, his nephew, and other extended family members.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday December 18th at Fort Jackson National Cemetery at 12 noon.
In lieu of flowers we ask that donations be made to The Wounded Warriors Project.
Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel will be assisting the family. Memories may be shared at www.dunbarfunerals.com
