Carl Rudolph Gardner

Mr. Gardner passed away Sunday, March 5, 2023. Born in Denmark, S.C., he was the son of the late James T. Gardner and Lurene Jeffcoat Gardner. Mr. Gardner was a lifelong member of Main Street United Methodist Church. He graduated from the University of South Carolina and then served two years in the U.S. Navy aboard the destroyer, the U.S.S. Hugh Purvis. Mr. Gardner spent his career as an internal auditor and retired from Wachovia Bank as a vice president. He was an avid USC fan and cheered on his beloved Gamecocks at almost every football game for 49 years.

Mr. Gardner was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Harriett Moore Gardner and his first wife, Lucia Livingston Gardner. Surviving are his daughters, Susan G. Furtick (Richard M.), Caryn G. Currie (Troy J.), and Judith G. Gregory (Jimmy R.), and his grandchildren, William C. Currie, Cody J. Gregory, and Kelly F. Gregory.

The family would like to thank the staff at Wellmore of Lexington and Live Long Wellcare for their care of their father and grandfather for the past year.
