Alexander Sasha Hansen, son of Adam Gamba Hansen of Belmont NC and Jaime Nichole Huey of Irmo, SC, brother of Kyle Gamba Hansen, grandson of Michelle and Wilbur Dean Huey of Glen Campbell, Pa. and Nancy and Jerry Hansen of Aiken, SC passed away Friday, Dec. 2, 2022.
Alex was born Jan. 6, 2001 in Augusta, GA. He attended Millbrook Elementary, Kennedy Middle School, and South Aiken High School until the family moved to Irmo, SC. in 2016. Alex graduated from Irmo High School in 2019.
Alex loved soccer and played with intensity and passion. He played Club soccer with the GA/SC Bulls and GPS Lexington. He played both JV and Varsity soccer for Irmo High School and was a member of the Cross Country team.. After high school, he attended Coker College and played soccer his freshman year. He played in the Columbia Central League, often playing on teams with his father and brother. He was a dedicated supporter of Manchester City FC in the Premier League, and the South Carolina Gamecocks.
Alex also had a deep passion for cars: he loved working on them, driving them, and studying them. He loved his Honda Prelude and spent hours upon hours modifying and detailing it. He was a regular attendee at the Irmo Car Meets.
Alex worked as a server at The British Bulldog Pub in Irmo, SC for two years. He genuinely loved his job, the atmosphere of the pub, and, most of all, the people he worked with.
Alex was a smart, dedicated and beautiful spirit who left us too soon and will be missed by so many. In addition to his immediate family, he is survived by his uncles and aunts Todd and Natalia Huey of Portland, MI, David and Megan Huey of Martinsburg, WV, Shelley and Curtis Small of Glen Campbell, PA, Logan Hansen of W. Danville, Vt., Damon Hansen and Amanda Burns of Atlanta, Ga., Conner and Maggie Hansen of Concord, NH, and cousins Brent, Madison, Deagan, Lindsey, and Garrett. Alex also had a large and loving tribe of great uncles and aunts, and second cousins who will remember him forever.
A small service will be held for the family at Dunbar Funeral Home on Thursday, December 8, followed by a drop-in time of remembrance at the British Bulldog Pub at 6:00 p.m. We invite all those who knew and loved Alex to join us at the Bulldog, and invite you to wear your favorite soccer jersey, or casual wear in Manchester City, University of South Carolina, or Irmo High School colors.
