Dr. Richard C. Carver, long time Iowa Park dentist, unexpectedly passed away on March 16, 2017 Wichita Falls, Texas. He was born to Opal Chester Carver and Minnie Marie Murphy on October 8, 1925 in Vigo Park, Texas. After graduating from high school in Tulia, Texas, he enlisted as a pilot in the Army Air Corp. Following his discharge, Dr. Carver returned to Tulia and married Gloria Ann Kirkpatrick, who preceded him in death.
He attended The University of Texas School of Dentistry in Houston, Texas where he graduated with honors in children's dentistry. Dr. Carver established a dental practice in Lamesa, Texas prior to moving to Iowa Park where he practiced for 38 years. During his time in Iowa Park, he served his community in many ways: Red Cross District Chairman, Chamber of Commerce President, President of the Wichita Falls Dental Association, President of the Wichita Falls Boy Scouts of America. He was also a long-time member of the First Christian Church of Iowa Park.
After the death of his wife of 38 years, he was fortunate to find another companion and married Helen Nipper, to whom he was married for 19 years.
Dr. Carver is survived by his three daughters, Debbie Reed, Deanne Britt and Janice Goins, 8 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren.
Services will be held at Dutton Funeral Home in Iowa Park, Texas on Monday, March, 20, at 2:00 pm. Visitation will be Sunday at Dutton Funeral Home from 3:00-5:00 pm.
