On November 26, 1955, she married Robert Hawthorne, and together they raised three daughters; Pam, Penny, and Robin. In her children’s years, she stayed home and cared for them. In 1974, Pat and Robert moved to Iowa Park Texas. Pat was best known and admired for loving and caring for her family and others. For several years, Pat worked as a compassionate nurses aid at Wichita Falls State Hospital. She felt a tenderness and kindness for her patients to the point that she even invited some of them to her home on occasion for day trip outings. Pat cared for her ailing mother as she worked her full time job. Her compassion for others did not end when she retired. Pat continued for many years to be a caregiver to her husband, her mother-in-law, father-in-law and her daughter.
She had a love for music and never missed a chance to dance. In her earlier years, she enjoyed sewing, gardening, swimming and breeding dogs. Pat also dabbled with selling items on eBay when home computers became mainstream. In her later years she loved shopping, attending church, and music events. She was an active member of the Iowa Park Music club and participated in playing music with fellow church members at surrounding nursing homes.
