Jacob D. Perez, Sr., 67, passed away on October 15, 2022 in Iowa Park, Texas. There will be a visitation held from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 20, 2022 at Dutton Funeral Home in Iowa Park. The service is to follow on Friday, October 21, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel at Dutton Funeral Home, with Mr. Jesse Quintero officiating. Burial will take place following the service at Highland Cemetery in Iowa Park, Texas.
Jacob was born on June 1, 1955 to Frank D. & Sarah E. Perez in Knox City, Texas. He graduated from Hirschi High School in 1974. Jacob held his first job at Piggly Wiggly before and after graduating from Hirschi. He worked for Piggly Wiggly until he eventually went on to work for Cryovac in 1979. Jacob retired from Cryovac after 40 years. He married the love of his life, Rita, in 1990 and they were happily married for 32 years. Jacob and Rita moved to Iowa Park in 1991 and have been here ever since.
Jacob loved the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Rangers. He also loved watching Clint Eastwood movies. Clint was his favorite actor of all-time. Jacob also loved western and action movies, and Richard Pryor was his favorite comedian. His favorite past-time besides watching the Cowboys & Rangers, was watching movies over and over. In his downtime, Jacob enjoyed playing pool. He won the Coors Shoot-Out in the 1980s in Wichita Falls, Texas.
He never met a stranger. Everywhere he went, someone knew “Jake the Snake.” Poppies is what a lot of people called him, aside from “Jake the Snake.” His daughter called him daddy and poppies is what all of the grand-babies called him. He loved his wife, children, grand-children, & familia. They were all the loves of his life.
Jacob is preceded in death by his parents, Frank D. & Sarah E. Perez, of Wichita Falls, Texas; J.R. Munoz, Greg & Mary Villarreal; Daryl & Vicki Sanchez; Johnathan Petty; John Ozuna III; mother-in-law, Kay Colvin; & numerous friends and family.
He is survived by his wife, Rita Perez; children, Tina & Darren Myers of Knoxville,TN, Shawna & Jim Graber of Knoxville, TN ; Jacob D. Perez, Jr. of Ft. Worth, Texas; Sarah & Roman Harty of Iowa Park, Texas; Brothers & Sister, Frances Munoz, Lou & John Ozuna, Frank & Connie Perez, and Philip & Lucy Perez, all of Wichita Falls; blood-brother, Lanny Hunt of Bowie, Texas; 10 grand-children, Cody, Lauren, Lacey, Brandon, Maddie, Levi, Tyler, Mickie, Shiloh, and Silas, and several nieces and nephews, all of whom he will be missed greatly by.
In lieu of flowers or food, the family would like for donations to be made to: Hospice of Wichita Falls, Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, and to Healing Hands of Wichita Falls, Texas.
