Born in Mabou Harbour on December 1, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Donald S. Beaton and Margaret (MacDonald) Beaton. Sally was predeceased by husband, Michael "Mickey" Boyle and is survived by her beloved daughter, Kathleen, who looked after Sally and cared for her at home until her passing and was beside her holding her hand until the end. They loved each other dearly and it’s the love Sally had for Kathleen that kept her going.
Sally is also survived by her siblings, Mary Catherine (late Tom) Glanman, Kenzieville; Donnie Beaton, Mabou Harbour; Christine (Ronnie) MacDonald, Judique; and sister-in-law, Rosie Beaton, Mabou Harbour.
Besides her parents, Sally was predeceased by her brothers, Alexander (Anne), John Dan (Monica) and Sandy; sister, Mary Florence “Flossie” Larade (Alex); brother in infancy, Josie and nephew, Patrick Larade.
There is so much we could say about Sally, but I just don’t know where to start. I’m going to try and keep it short and simple. Sally was mostly known for her dedicated service as a certified cook at Mabou Consolidated School for many, many years until its closure and what a cook she was. To this day, we still talk about her amazing chicken burgers. No one missed school on Thursdays because it was chicken burger day. Sally’s hospitality was like no other. If you happened to go visit her and Kathleen, you better land with an empty stomach because you sure as heck were leaving with a very full stomach. Sally was the best aunt anyone could of asked for. She definitely treated you like her own and will be missed so much. She always had a smile and a good story to tell when you visited her, and they were the best stories. Sally was the most selfless, considerate, thoughtful, easy-going (I could go on and on) person you could meet and that will be missed by all her family and friends.
Visitation will take place in the vestry of St. Mary’s Church, Mabou on Sunday January 8th from 2-4 and 7-9 pm.
