It is with great sadness that the family of "Margie" MacDougall, 80, of Inverness, announce her passing surrounded by her family on Sunday, September 3, 2017 in Inverary Manor, Inverness. Born in Inverness on December, 21, 1936, she was a daughter of the late John Dan and Mary Sarah (MacDonald) MacDougall. She was a member of Stella Maris Parish, Inverness. At an early age, Margie left Inverness to seek employment, like many Cape Bretoners, in the Boston area. Her heart being in Cape Breton , she returned home to work at the Highland Restaurant, R&R Dairy and in other service industries while residing with her mother. She is survived by brothers, Harold Dan (Dolores), Windsor, Ont.; Hugh "Suey" (Cassie), Inverness; sisters, Killy (Malcolm) MacDougall, Windsor, Ont.; Thelma (the late Don) MacNeil, Brocton, Mass.; sisters-in-law, Jessie MacDougall, Amherst; Tina MacDougall, Inverness; and brother-in-law, Sandy (Anne) Beaton, Sydney, N.S. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews whom she held dearly in her heart.
Margie was predeceased by brothers, Willie Dan, John Archie, Francis "Chalk" and John James MacDougall; sisters, Mary Florence "Trixie" (Archie) Sofan, Lizzie Beaton and Margaret Marie MacDougall.
Visitation will be held in Stella Maris Church, Inverness on Saturday September 9 from 10-10:45 a.m. with Funeral Mass to follow at 11 a.m. Fr. Dan MacDonald officiating, burial to follow in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Inverary Manor, Inverness or to Central Inverness Palliative Care Society.
