Born in Deepdale, Inverness County on June 12, 1952, Gordon was a son of the late John Angus Smith, Inverness; and Catherine Ann (MacEachern) Smith, Judique.
Gordon, in his younger years, loved fishing with his father and working around older cars.
In his later years he enjoyed unloading crab boats with his son John at the Inverness Wharf. Gordon and John's last project was working on an antique car, a 1966 Caprice. His favorite past-time in the last couple of months was spending time with John at his old homestead in Deepdale.
Gordon loved working around his property, especially working around the gardens with his wife, Cindy.
Gordon was a beloved husband and father. His pride and joys were his 2 grand-children, Kayleigh and Christopher.
Gordon was very dedicated and a hard worker. He enjoyed wood splitting his whole life. He had great admiration for his boss Graham Garland (Asplundh Tree Services) for the last 20 years. He also enjoyed playing a practical joke whenever he could. Gordon had a great sense of humor. He had a special attachment to his little dog Tucker, who he lost a couple of years ago.
Gordon is survived by his wife of 37 years, Cindy; his only son, John (Heidi MacIsaac), Inverness; brothers, Donnie, Kingston, ON; Colonel (Gloria), Inverness; Rachael (Bob), Liverpool; Bernie and Joe, Inverness. Gordon has many nieces and nephews whom he adored.
Besides his parents, Gordon was predeceased by his older sister, Pauline Krohl.
