Born on September 20, 1939, he was a son of the late Barkes and Ethel (Crowdis) Phillips and was a member of Wilson United Church, Margaree Centre.
Francis was a wonderful, kind and caring man. His love of family was beyond measure, but when the grandchildren came, his pride was eight-fold.
He was always up for fun and music, he had a passion for animals, especially racehorses and his dogs. Francis always had a great love for his church.
As a child, he was in Tyro, Sicmac and Youth Group.
He was a janitor for many years. He also served on the Board of Managers and was a Sunday school teacher. Francis worked in the woods as a harvester operator, he loved modern square dancing and was a great sport, always teasing the girls at the manor. He even made a good attempt to dance 5 days before his passing, always making the best of every event. Francis also loved gardening.
Francis is survived by his wife of 57 years, Barbara; children, Lorna (James), Leroy (Kathy), Francie (Robert), Judy (Bradley); grandchildren, Emily Ann, Jamie Marie, Rebecca Lynn, Elon Mariner James, Breton Christopher Russell, Erica Susan, Mason Bradley Fraser, Avery Margaret Ann; mother-in-law, Margaret; sister-in-law, Marjorie; nephews, Jabez, Kelly; nieces, Priscilla and Nancy; and all his great grand nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his brother, Charlie; sister, Sadie; father-in-law, Neil; step father-in-law, Micheal; and brother-in-law, Harry.
Visitation will take place in Wilson United Church Hall, Margaree Centre on Sunday September 10th from 3-9 pm. Funeral Service to be held in Wilson United Church on Monday September 11th at 11:00 am with Rev. Alicia Cox celebrating.
