Donald was born on July 28th, 1942, in Inverness. He was a son of the late William MacLean and Jane (Roberts) MacLean. He will be greatly missed by his loving and devoted wife of 54 years, Kaye (MacDonald) MacLean; children, Cheryl MacIsaac (Ian), and Mark MacLean (Laura); his three grandchildren, William MacIsaac, Madelyn and Claire MacLean; and his brother, Bill MacLean (Vera Nearing).
Donald was an electrician by trade and began working as an independent contractor. He spent the final 20 years of his career at the Strathlorne Forest Nursery.
An avid outdoorsman, Donald could often be found golfing, fishing, and hunting. He loved to garden and spent many hours in his greenhouse and large vegetable garden.
Donald was well known for his years of singing and entertaining, both solo and with his brother, Billy. Their gigs were a popular attraction at the Inverness Legion.
His family was a source of pride and joy to him. He was particularly proud of his grandchildren and was always delighted to visit with them.
The family sincerely thanks the staff at the Inverary Manor for the wonderful care he received and the many laughs he shared with them. Our gratitude is also extended to Dr. Egar and the nursing staff at the Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital for their care.
Visitation will take place on Saturday September 16th in St. Matthews United Church, Inverness from 1-1:45 pm with a Funeral Service to follow at 2:00 pm. A reception will follow at the Inverness Fire Hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Donald’s memory to Parkinson Canada or the Inverary Manor, Inverness.
