Campbell, Bridget (Bea) – 86. It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our loving mother, grandmother, aunt and friend on October 18 in Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital. Born on June 28, 1924, in Strathlorne, she was the daughter of the late John Angus and Lauchina (MacLeod) MacIsaac. Bea is survived by her daughters, Linda (Jody), Mabou; Bernice (Wayne), Black River; Valarie (Jim), Dartmouth; and sons, John Angus (Dawn), Glenville; and Keith (Darlene), Mississauga, Ont. She was a proud nanny to her grandchildren, Craig, Courtney, Ashley, Murdock, Shamus, Cora, Kelsey, Alex, Jaime, Emily and Julia. She will also be very fondly remembered by many cousins, nieces and nephews. Bea was predeceased by her husband, Alex R. Campbell, on June 27, 1996; infant son, Badley; sisters, Kay MacNeil, Inverness; and Marie McNanny, New York. Bea was a faithful member of St Mary’s parish, Mabou, and a longtime member of St Mary’s CWL. She was dedicated to her community, especially her involvement for many years as chair of the St. Mary’s Parish Hall where she happily gave much of her time, support and energy to ensuring the hall was a gathering place that the community could be proud of. It was important to Bea that families who had experienced a death had a warm gathering place to meet with friends and families. Along with other community members, Bea helped organize a committee that provided a great cup of tea, lunch and loving support to these families in time of need.
Bea was proud of her home in Black River and worked very hard to maintain the farm that she loved. She always had a warm welcome and a cup of tea waiting for any friends or family who dropped by. She loved joining other friends in the community for a good game of cards, bingo and conversation and she always looked forward to a good road trip.
Bea’s family will be forever thankful to all the staff at Inverness Consolidated Hospital who provided her with such loving care. The nursing staff went above and beyond to ensure mom and all of us were well taken care of. We are grateful to all friends and family who came by to visit during her stay in hospital. We will always remember your kindness. Visitation will be in the vestry of St. Mary’s Church, Mabou on Wednesday October 20 from 7-9 p.m. and Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be held on Friday at 3 p.m. in St. Mary’s Church, Mabou with Fr. Angus Morris officiating. Burial to follow in the parish cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Central Inverness Palliative Care Society or to the Canadian Cancer Society.
