It is with deep sadness to announce the loss of Bernice Kaye MacLeod, aged 68. Bernice was surrounded by loved ones and passed peacefully in Truro on Oct 21, 2020. She lived her life giving to others and caring for those she loved as a sister, friend, wife, mother, dietician, and grandmother. Her laughter, love and support will be missed by all.
She was born and raised in Scotsville, Inverness County to Donald Grant “Grantie” and Marjorie Bernice MacDougall. She was the oldest of three sisters, (Anne MacMaster, Carol Beaton, Paula Rhyno) and two brothers, (Charlie MacDougall and Darrell MacDougall). After graduating from Inverness Consolidated High School she attended St. F.X. and received a bachelor’s degree in home economics and dietetics. She worked as a Dietician for 35 years while raising a family in the town of Truro.
She was a beautiful and strong woman who cherished her friends and family. She loved teaching others, cooking and baking, exploring nature, and going to the beach.
Bernice is survived by her husband, Robert MacLeod; sons and their partners, Sean MacLeod and Lindsey Daye , Grant and Nicole MacLeod; and her two granddaughters, Lydia and Mirren MacLeod.
There will be a visitation in Inverness Funeral Home on Friday, October 30th from 2-6 p.m. Her service will be held Lake Ainslie Presbyterian Church, East Lake Ainslie on Saturday, October 31th at 11 a.m. with Rev. Louis Ihasz celebrating. Burial to follow in East Lake Ainslie Cemetery.
