Willis Lee Watkins

Willis Lee Watkins, age 82, of Beech Grove, Indiana passed away on Friday, April 7, 2023. Willis was born in Russellville, Kentucky to the late Willie Mae (London) Watkins and Lonnie Watkins. He is also preceded in death by his son, Johnny Watkins and brother-in-law, Larry Thompson. Willis was dedicated to his career as an owner operator with Watkins Trucking Co only retiring because his body said it was time. Willis held the Pilgrim Degree, in the Beech Grove Moose Lodge and was a member of American Legion and Eagles. Willis loved all his family unconditionally. He was kind and generous to anyone in need, all you had to do was ask and it was done. Willis is survived by his wife, Deanna (Thomas) Watkins; children, David Watkins (Janet), Melanee "Missy" Decker (John), Robert Bruce (Andrea), Laura Stevens, and Joseph Bruce (Dawn); sister, Rita Thompson; 15 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild; nephew Jerry Thompson; and many other extended family members and friends. The family will gather with friends for a Celebration of Life at a later date.
