William F Binkley, age 96, passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2024. “Bill”, as he was affectionately known by family and friends, was born on July 22, 1927, and resided in Indianapolis his entire life. He is survived by his wife, Audrey, with whom he had enjoyed 72 years of marriage. Bill grew-up in the Meridian Kessler area, attended Shortridge High School (class of 1945), and then Purdue in Chemical Engineering (1948), along with being a brother in the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity (later spending 4 years being Chief of Section XI). He served in the Army for 2 years, and then after working at Eli Lilly, began a long career of building residential homes on the northside of Indianapolis. He was a member of the Northside Realtors, serving as both Secretary and Treasurer. Bill was a member of Northminster Presbyterian Church, serving as a Deacon, Elder and Trustee from 1955-1991. Since 1991, Bill & Audrey have been active members of Second Presbyterian Church. In retirement, Bill and Audrey traveled extensively, while spending winters in Florida. Bill also dabbled in art, leaving behind numerous paintings and sketches.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Agnes Binkley, and by his son Robert (Bob) Binkley. He is survived by his beloved wife Audrey, and his sons William (Billy) Binkley (Cynthia) and David Binkley (Aggie), and daughter-in-law, Nina Binkley. He was blessed with 9 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren.
A Service will be provided on Thursday, February 1, from 10:00 am at Marquette Manor (in the Chapel), 8140 Township Line Road, Indianapolis with visitation to follow until 11:30am. Bill’s final resting place will be at the Earlham Cemetery in Richmond, IN. In leu of flowers, contributions may be directed to Second Presbyterian Church, or Marquette Foundation.
