Virginia Ann “Ginny” (Coxen) Compton, 92, of Greenwood, IN passed away March 19, 2018. She was born August 17, 1925 in Indianapolis to the late Blanton and Helen (Spahr) Coxen. She graduated from Shortridge High School and received a B.A. Degree from Butler University. While at Butler she met her husband and was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. She was a Homemaker and had been a tutor at Acton Elementary School for 10 years. She was a member of Acton United Methodist Church, the Franklin Township Historical Society and a member of the Heritage Foundation at Butler. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Leroy Z. “Dee” Compton, her son Ted Compton and a sister Carolyn Duvall.
Virginia is survived by her sons, James (Laurie), and Charles (Sheila); daughters, Anita Hubley (Jeff) and Nancy Compton; grandchildren, Wesley Compton, Laura Compton, Carin Brogan (Anthony), Andrew and Anna Hubley; and 3 great-grandchildren, Alex and Isabella Brogan and Emmett Compton; her sister Joan Nichols and brother-in-law, Leslie Duvall.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m., Sunday, March 25, at Acton United Methodist Church, 5650 Senour Rd., Indianapolis, IN 46239 with visitation from 12:00 p.m. until service time. Burial will be in Acton Cemetery.
