Thomas Richard Kleinschmidt (TK), of Indianapolis, sadly passed away on July 5, 2024, but will be fondly remembered by family, friends, co-workers, and many others he touched in unknown ways along his life’s 65-year journey. Tom was born June 3, 1959, to Kenneth Richard and Jane Ann Kleinschmidt. The youngest of their four children, Tom carved out his own unique and successful path in life. Tom excelled both academically and athletically in school. His educational path took him to primary Schools 70 and 84, Broad Ripple High School, and DePauw University. Tom graduated from Broad Ripple High School in 1977, where he received honors as Class Valedictorian and the Indianapolis Star City Athlete of the Year. He was named All-City in both football and baseball and also played basketball, making him a three-sport star. Tom graduated from DePauw University in 1981. He was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity and played football, ending his career with a historic game against Wabash College that ended in a 22-22 tie. Tom spent most of his professional career in the insurance industry working as an Asset Manager for Indiana Insolvency, Inc. and a Senior Associate for Noble Consulting / Katz, Sapper, & Miller. Tom earned designations as a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). Tom’s greatest joy was being with his family. He is survived by his four children, Heather (Jorge) Medina Kleinschmidt and their son Atlas, Tyler (Christie) Kleinschmidt, Daniel Kleinschmidt, Ryan Kleinschmidt and his daughter Rosie, and their mother Blythe. He is also survived by his sister, Janet Kleinschmidt, brother Kip (Julia) Kleinschmidt, sister-in-law Rita Kleinschmidt, and many nephews and nieces: Calvin (Jamie) Kleinschmidt and their children Aria & James; Carol (Robert) Kleinschmidt Dudenhoefer and their daughter Magnolia; Tony Kleinschmidt; Bradley (Vanessa) Kleinschmidt; Samuel Scott and his fiancée Hillary Ott. Tom is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Jim. A Memorial Visitation will be held at Crown Hill Funeral Home on September 7th from 12:00PM - 2:00PM with a Memorial Service to begin at 2:00PM. Burial will follow the Memorial Service and Tom is to be interred close to his brother Jim.
