Steven W. LaFrance, age 59, of Indianapolis, passed away December 8, 2024. He was born in Terre Haute, Indiana to the late John and Jeanne (Place) LaFrance. Steve was a graduate of Terre Haute South High School and Indiana State University.
In high school, Steve was a Junior All American wrestler and played varsity football. He received numerous wrestling awards and medals. In college, he was a member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. He graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. He had so many fond memories of growing up and attending college in Terre Haute.
Steve’s professional career was a great success story. He started his working career at Merchants Bank in an entry level job. He worked hard at each position that he held from that point on, especially during his time spent at both KMPG and McGladery. Through hard work and dedication, Steve continued to move himself up the ladder all way to earning the distinguished position of managing partner, National Healthcare Consulting at Forvis Mazars. In that role, he led a team of 230 advisors. Steve received many awards and notable honors during the course of his professional career, but the honor of holding that position at Forvis Mazars was his most proud career achievement.
Steve enjoyed writing poetry, long walks, and telling stories. His writing was beautiful, and one of his poems even won an award. He also enjoyed driving his corvette, spending time at his lake house, listening and singing along to music (for better or for worse, he always sang along). Most of all he loved spending time with his family and his dog, Rosie.
Friends will remember him as one of the funniest, most intelligent and sensitive (in a good way) people they’ve met. Many remember his remarkable humor, and that he was always genuine and authentic. All of these characteristics and more have been attributed to his great success in the areas of life that meant the most to him- family, friends, and career. He worked extremely hard for his family and loved his family and friends more than anything. He will be missed beyond measure by many.
Steve is survived by his wife Susan (Mueller) LaFrance of 36 years, daughter, Gabrielle LaFrance; son, Nicholas LaFrance; brothers, Mark (Patty) LaFrance and Kevin (Sherry) LaFrance; and sister, Karen (Jeff) Kennedy; as well as nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, John (Jack) and Jeanne LaFrance.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 13, 2024 from 4-7 PM at Leppert Mortuary – Nora Chapel, 740 E. 86th Street, Indianapolis, Indiana. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Christ the King Catholic Church, 5884 N. Crittenden Ave., Indianapolis, Indiana. Burial to follow at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, Indianapolis, Indiana.
