Sharon Ann Richards

Sharon Ann Richards (nee Shive) age 94 passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2024 at her residence at Independence Village, Avon, Indiana. Sharon was born August 23,1929 in Ft Wayne, IN. She met her husband Roland Ray Richards at a wedding. He was an usher and she was a bridesmaid. They were married October 26, 1946. They lived in Carmel, IN for thirty years where she was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic church. They retired to Grand Island, FL. After her children were grown, Sharon took up competitive swimming. Her home swim club was the Jordan YMCA, Indianapolis. She competed in the Pan Pacific Masters aquatic games in 1989 and in the World Masters Swimming Championships in Indianapolis in 1992. Roland died in 2011. Sharon was preceded by her parents Paul Mason Shive and Leonita Pauline Shive and her brothers Paul Kenneth Shive and John Thomas Shive. They had six children Michael Richards, Stevan Richards, Judy Hodges, Sally Haskett, John Richards (deceased), Joseph Richards, twenty grandchildren, many great grandchildren. Her ashes will be interred with her husband at Florida National Cemetery.
