Ruth was born on March 23rd, 1931, in Paris, IL to Frank and Ruth Black (Stalnaker). In October of 1960, she married Richard J. Strejc (deceased). They raised two daughters, Ruth Lynn, and Gail Rose.
Ruth loved to read, and this helped her find a career at the age of 42. She
became interested in healthy food and nutrition. In September 1973, she began working at a family-owned business, Georgetown Health Foods in Indianapolis, IN. She started as a stock helper and then over the years worked getting a degree as a Clinical Nutritionist. She worked there for 24 years before moving to Winding Way Farms. She worked at Winding Way Farms almost 3 years. She met Robert W. Ellis there and after a brief engagement, they were married on June 17th, 2000, in Seymour, IN She opened an office in Seymour called Ruth’s Place and sold supplements there from 2000-2018.
She loved music and singing. She especially loved Christmas music! She had a kind and compassionate heart, a warm smile and was always willing to help anyone in need.
Ruth was preceded in death by her father, Frank and her mother Ruth and her older brother Frank Jr. She is survived by her husband Robert W. Ellis (RW) and her daughters, Ruthie and Gail, her granddaughters, Ruth Ann and Taylor Rose and great-grandson Marc and younger sister Martha A. Bradford. Other surviving family members, her niece (who was more like another daughter) Dawn R. Haring (husband Carl), Dawn’s children, Josh (wife Molly), Cyrena and Dakota and great-niece, Lucy. Nephews, Frank Bradford (wife Becki), Robby Bradford (wife Tracy) their sons Jack, Xander (wife Taylor) and Noah.
She was surrounded in Seymour by loving members of her “bonus” family,
Robert “Junior” Ellis (wife Debbie), Max Ellis (wife Mary Kay), Nancy Eldridge (husband Mike), Pat Ellis (wife Theresa) and Jeff Ellis. She had many bonus grandchildren and great-grandchildren from the Ellis family.
Visitation hours will be 4pm-7pm, Friday July 29th, 2022 at Family Funeral Care, 5791 Rockville Road, Indianapolis, IN 46224. There will be a short visitation time from 9am-10am on Saturday, July 30th with the funeral beginning at 10am at the funeral home.
