Robert "Midge" or "Bob" Meyers, age 81 of Indianapolis, IN passed away peacefully on February 8, 2022. Born September 4, 1940 in Indianapolis, IN. Bob graduated Cathedral High School in 1958. Attended The University of Dayton. After returning to Indianapolis he worked in Sales at Mechanics Laundry and later worked at Jenn-Aire.
Blessed to be surrounded by his family and share countless memories of a life filled with joy and happiness. Bob was a father to 4 children, Mike, Chris, Lisa and Kim Meyers. Grandfather to 5, Lexi Schlink, Luke Schlink, Paighten Meyers, Paxton Meyers and Pryce Meyers. Brother to 5 sisters, Marge Minnis, Joan Lesch, Mary Lou Gorgol, Anne Lyons and Babs Haines. Son to Dr. Robert and Margaret "Mur" Meyers.
Known as "Midge" to all his childhood friends and family. He was a man with a gentle, humble, kind, heart who could strike up a conversation with someone new and forge a friendship instantly. Riverwalk Nursing Home has been his home for the past 6 years and it is safe to say.. Everyone knew him as Bob. It was like walking around with a celebrity at Riverwalk with the never ending "Hi Bob's". Bob was an avid sports fan. He had a few favorite sports and would tune in regularly with his roommate Melvin. Watching the Colts has to be top of the list. Bob had a knack for picking winners in the Riverwalk NFL Football Pools and often took the Grand Prize at the end of the season. We are convinced he had a Las Vegas Odds maker he consulted with each season. Another passion was baseball. A player himself with many accomplishments, but one stands out as a favorite he loved to recall. During a Jonestown, PA baseball tournament in the 1950's he struck out a young Joe Torre who would eventually be "the" Hall of Fame player and manager Joe Torre. Bob departed this world with the love of many and enters heaven with the love of many more. Our dad, our brother, and our friend will now be an angel to us all. Special thank you to all of the staff at Riverwalk Nursing Home who cared for Bob. We are forever grateful.
