Pearl A Nelson

Mrs. Pearl A. Weah-Nelson was born on Monday October 20, 1969 to the union of Rev. Joseph S. Weah, Sr. and Mrs. Victoria W. Weah (now Tallawford) at Phebe Hospital in Suacoco, Bong County Liberia. She passed away peacefully on Saturday January 12, 2019 with family at her side.

At a young age she accepted Christ as her Savior and was baptized at Calvary Baptist Church in Monrovia, Liberia. She was a member of the junior choir and AWANA club. When she moved backed to the United States following civil war in Liberia, she became a member of Christ's Open Door Baptist Church in Indianapolis, IN.

Pearl travelled with her parents and brothers at an early age to the United States where her father attended Cedarville College (now Cedarville University). Upon her return to Liberia she attended Calvary Baptist Church Elementary School. After graduating from Calvary she spent a semester at Assembly of God Mission School. She then attended Cathedral High School. When her mother accepted the offer to reopen the Baptist Mid-Missions Campus in Suacoco, Pearl returned to the town of her birth. There, she attended William V.S. Tubman-Gray Gbarnga Methodist High School where she graduated in 1988. At Tubman/Gray she was a member of the Eagle's female basketball team. She attended AME Zion University in Monrovia, Liberia where she earned an associate's degree. Upon her return to the United States in the early 1990s she received certification from National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).

Pearl met and married the love of her life Michael. She never missed an opportunity to talk about her Egypt. Their union blended five children, now all adults. Pearl was a blessing to all that she met while she sojourned here. She was a true Proverbs 31 woman. She never met a stranger. Throughout her illness she was known to share her faith in Jesus with caregivers always with a smile. She was truly an artistic soul. She loved music, poetry, drawing, and watching a good movie or TV show. However, the three most important things in her life were:

1. Faith: Pearl's life was a testimony to those that encountered her especially throughout her long illness. Friends and family often commented on how she ministered to them when they went to visit her. She always had an encouraging word and a million watt smile.

2. Family (biological and close friends): Pearl loved her family. She was the glue that held her family together as a unit. She was very passionate about meeting and marrying the love of her life Michael. She adored their children and grandchildren. She had a gift for making all feel welcomed. Her nieces and nephews all have fond memories of her teasing, playful nature.

3. Educating young minds: At a very early age Pearl wanted to be a teacher. From teaching her baby dolls and younger sister to actually teaching Pre-K students. She was an educator from 1992 until she had to retire due to illness in 2012.

Pearl leaves to celebrate her amazing life and mourn her peaceful passing; mother Mrs. Victoria Weah-Tallawford (Dickson), beloved husband Michael E. Nelson, Children; Morgan D. Nelson, Michael R.(Tamekia) Nelson, Benjamin L. Cox, jr, Morgan A.D. Cox, and Jamil Nelson. Siblings Alberta (Bulu) Taybior, Rev. Winfred (Lydia) Weah, George Weah, Julius (Lorraine) Weah, Joseph (Sue) Weah, Eugene(Veltmon) Weah, Augustine(Alicia), Ernest George and her precious Mother in Law Mrs. Martha Garrett, Brothers in Law David(Cherron) Nelson, Shawn Garrett, Marcella Lyles, Jr. and Sisters-in-Law Lori Williams, Ayanna Nelson, twelve grandchildren, 34 nieces and nephews and her Paternal Uncle Steven G. (Mabel) Weah, Sr., Paternal aunt Sarah Weah, Maternal Uncle Anthony W. Newon.

She is preceeded in death by her father Rev. Joseph S. Weah, Sr., brothers Roye and George and her Father-in-Law Mr. Roy Turk Nelson.
