Patsy Eloise Faulkner Tucker (Meme), 98, passed away April 8, 2022, after a brief hospitalization surrounded by her loving family. Patsy was born September 14, 1923, in Greensburg, Kentucky, the daughter of Pearl and John Faulkner. Her siblings Violet Curry, Pauline Franklin, and Freeman Faulkner, also of Greensburg, preceded her in death.
Patsy married Thomas Tucker, and they moved to Indianapolis to start a life together. They enjoyed 71 years of marriage before Tom’s death in 2011 and shared a lifetime of wonderful love, friends, and family.
Patsy was always happy to go on trips with Tom and their Buick friends, visiting Africa, China, many European cities and even flying on the Concorde and traveling on the Orient Express. Her later trips included a lifetime dream of traveling to the Holy Land with St. Luke’s United Methodist Church and her two daughters, Marsha (Gregg) Hutchinson and Karen (Robert) Hebert who survive her.
Patsy was a member of Union Chapel United Methodist Church for many years, serving as President of the United Methodist Women there and working on countless committees. Patsy and Tom later joined St. Luke’s United Methodist Church where she became a Stephens Minister and took great joy in helping the church in this way. Patsy was an active participant for many years in Bible Study Fellowship and loved doing her Bible homework every week. She was also a Girl Scout leader when her daughters were growing up and a member of PEO Sisterhood, an organization that gave her great pleasure. Patsy and Tom were early members of Woodland Country Club, and their many golfing friends at Woodland were part of their social lives throughout the years.
Patsy’s greatest accomplishment was her gift as a wife, mother, proud grandmother and great grandmother, and friend. This is where she left her lasting mark in the world. She is survived by grandchildren Thomas (Heather) Hutchinson, Elizabeth Hutchinson, Emily (Jason) Groves, Molly (Adam) Fuller, Kathryn (Kelley) Bloom, Karey Hutchinson, and Amy (Quincy) Evans. Her great grandchildren include Chase, Will, and John Hutchinson; Libby and CeCe Groves; Kate, Jane, and Mary Fuller; Tucker Hutchinson; Lake, June, and Reese Bloom; John Quincy, Southern, Louise, Welles, and Noah Sloane Evans. These children, young and old, were in love with a grandmother/great grandmother who would move mountains to see them and spend time with them.
In recent years Patsy has resided at the Barrington of Carmel where her special friend Lindsay Green helped extend her life with her friendship and constant care.
A family service, led by Dr. Kent Millard, will celebrate Patsy’s long and love filled life with burial at Union Chapel Cemetery. You are invited to visit the website www.leppertmortuary.com where you may share a personal memory of Patsy or arrange for a memorial contribution: stjude.org to help the children of Ukraine or the American Red Cross.
