 Obituario de Pamela Ann Smith
In her heyday, Pam made one “mean” chocolate cake! It could have killed you, but some would say death was worth getting just a taste. With great sorrow and bittersweet gratitude, the Lysonge and Smith family announce the passing of our smart, kind, compassionate, and loving mother, sister, aunt, and cousin, Pamela Ann Smith, who was granted her wings and released from this earthly life, by God, on March 31, 2024, passing peacefully, with her son, Ekumene, daughter-in-law, Tammy, brother, Allen, and other family and friends by her side, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital. She was 75 years young, and a whiz at shopping on Amazon.com. Pam was a thoughtful soul and will be missed and remembered for the many lives she touched. Even though her stubbornness often got on people’s nerves, including her son’s, she was still taken home too soon. A stranger to no one and an instant friend to many, Pam left a positive impression on the people she encountered during her earthly journey. Although everyone she left behind hates that she is gone, we are exalting HIS name for bringing her home and removing all pain. We will always love and miss her until we can meet again. Pam, the eldest of five children was born on February 9, 1949, to Allen N. and Elizabeth A. Smith in Indianapolis, Indiana. In June of 1967, she received her Academic Diploma from Shortridge High School. After graduating, Pam met and married her husband, Samuel M. Lysonge, in June of 1972, and not many years thereafter birthed her one and only child, Ekumene M. Lysonge. Although her marriage to Sammy didn’t last, as they divorced in April of 1985, she didn’t let her failed attempt at love douse her ambition to build a life for herself and her son. She went on to have a civil service career with the Social Security Administration from 1975 to 1996 (including working for a period in the Manhattan, NY Office of SSA). In 2001, she graduated from Indiana Business College with an Associate Degree in Health Claims Examination, which launched her second career in medical billing. In the second phase of her professional career, Pam worked as a Billing Manager for Dr. Gary M. Halberstadt from 2002 to 2017. Throughout her years of professional service, she remained thankful for and appreciative of the meaningful friendships and connections she made with her co-workers who became welcomed “extensions” to her family. Family Who Went Before Pam was predeceased by her sister, Sandra E. Smith, who died April 2, 1993, mother, Elizabeth A. Smith, who died October 19, 2001, father, Allen N. Smith, Sr., who died December 21, 2003, brother, Gregory Smith, who died June 19, 2007, and brother, Gerry Smith, who died December 16, 2007. Family She Left Behind She is survived by her son, Ekumene M. Lysonge (Tamia), brother, Allen N. Smith, Jr. (Rennett), grandson, Tristan M. Lysonge, and granddaughters, Jamia D. and Jada J. Moore. As mentioned, Pam is the eldest of five children. She also leaves behind, nieces, nephews, and cousins that she always affectionately “sent her love to” and which she will continue to cover with her love from beyond. A visitation for Pamela will be held Friday, April 12, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Crown Hill Funeral Home, 700 W. 38th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46208, followed by a celebration of life at 12:00 PM.
