 Obituario de Nancy Lou Herrington
Nancy Lou Herrington, 90, peacefully passed away on July 12, 2024 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Affectionately known as “Mama Herrington” to the little girls she cared for in Clarksville, Tn, she hosted tea parties and played Barbies; and played Oscar the Grouch and a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle to Katie, Joseph and Sarah in Olean, New York. “Silly Grandma” to Cullen, her grandson, she snuck ice cream to him at bedtime, made up outdoor beachball kicking games, walked him to elementary school, watched endless Thomas the Tank Engine videos, and ate anything he made, especially his Potato Soup. “Grandnanny” to her step granddaughter Michelle Wieczorek (Jeff), and step great grandchildren Brady Mabe and Olivia Mabe, she sent cards, took many trips to the Children’s Museum and was a regular at Chuck E. Cheese. She was also known for packing suitcases a week before a trip, worrying about driving in snowy weather, eating everything on her plate despite saying “I can’t eat all that”, losing her glasses, being a pin curl master, and taking 3 children under 5 by herself to Germany on a military ship despite never having left her small hometown before. She will be remembered for loving her mom and children, her dog Zoey (AKA “the Purse”), Peyton Manning, the Buffalo Bills and placing cool hands on headachy foreheads. She loved God, warm out-of-the-oven cookies, clean houses, fresh laundry, washed dishes, anything blue, Elvis, red roses, very hot Starbucks vanilla latte, Olive Garden, and a cup of hot tea with her daily soap operas. She was also a magnet for any animal despite saying she didn’t like pets but willingly loved and overfed all of them. Nancy was born in Olean, New York on September 9, 1933 to Herman Leslie and Mildred Esther Langworthy. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Barbara Marvin, her brother Richard “Dickie” Langworthy, her grandson James Hawkins, and nephews Thomas Marvin and Victor “Hoppy” Marvin”. Nancy is survived by her daughters Stephanie Mabe (Michael), Susan Herrington, Sharon Bechtold, and Shelia Finney; her grandchildren Chrissy Bechtold, Angela Bechtold, and Cullen Herrington; and her nephews George Conklin (Denise) and Timothy Marvin, and niece Marie Hawks (Bruce). Visitation will be held on Saturday July 20, 2024 at 12:00pm at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, 4780 126th Street, Carmel, In 46033. The service will be held immediately following at 1:00pm, also at St. Mark’s. Hot tea and cookies will be hosted by the United Women in Faith in Wesley Hall, and “Worry Candy” will be available in memory of Nancy.
