Melanie moved to the United States her senior year of high school and graduated from Lexington Catholic High School in 1992. After high school, she went on to obtain her PhD in chemical engineering from the University of Kentucky, where she served as teaching assistant, research assistant, and postdoctoral researcher. Melanie married Keith Loiselle on August 23, 1997.
Melanie was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and St. Luke Catholic Church in Indianapolis. Even as she valiantly battled cancer, Melanie strove to attend every game, meet, concert, and ceremony in which her children participated. Over the past year, Melanie also took up the new hobby of gardening. The flowers she planted will remain as a reminder of her inward and outward beauty.
