89, of Indianapolis, departed this life December 21, 2010. She was born January 30, 1921 in Indianapolis to Fred G. and Anna (Shea) Johnston. She was a graduate of St. Agnes Academy and attended Butler University. Mary Anne was a member of St. Luke Catholic Church, Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, St. Vincent’s Hospital Guild, St. Augustine Guild, The Riviera Club, and Benefe Guild. She was a dedicated volunteer at Little Sisters of the Poor, Immaculate Heart of Mary and Cathedral High School Mother’s Guild. In addition to her untiring love for her family, and her ultimate acts of care giving to her parents and husband, Mary Anne’s favorite places included her cottage at Lake Freeman and Sanibel Island, as well as mother – daughter trips. She was accomplished in many things, but her favorite interests included playing bridge, knitting, tennis, horseback riding and horse racing. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 49 years, G. William “Bill” Howard and granddaughter, Amy Hasbrook. Mary Anne is survived by her loving children, Barbara (Dan) Hasbrook, William (Jill) Howard, Nancy (Greg) Benefiel, Cathy (John) Shannon, Carolyn (Scott) Weiner and Jerry (Kelli) Howard; 20 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Mary Anne will begin at 9:30 AM on Monday, December 27th at Feeney-Hornak Keystone Mortuary followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 3 – 7 PM Sunday, December 26th in the mortuary. Entombment Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
