Martha A. Hickey Dalton

93, of Beech Grove, IN. passed away at St. Paul Hermitage on September 7, 2012. Martha was born on November 4, 1918 in Indianapolis, IN to the Late Benjamin and Annie Loretta (Hickey) Hickey. Martha graduated from Holy Cross Grade School and was a 1936 graduate of St. Mary Academy. She worked for Farrell-Argast Electric Co., Indiana National Bank and Howe High School. Martha was a longtime member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, until she moved to St. Paul Hermitage in 2004. Martha had been an active member of the Daughters of Isabella and the Guardian Angel Guild for many years. She also volunteered at Community Hospital East and Our Lady of Fatima Retreat House. Martha will be greatly missed by her loving family and friends. Thanks to all of the wonderful nurses and caregivers at St. Paul Hermitage for the excellent and loving care you gave to our mother. Martha is survived by her children Loretta (Jim) Miller, Helen Dalton, William P. (Linda) Dalton, and Patty (Hal) Coonfield; her 11 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren: brother Joseph (Shirley) Hickey of Mequon, Wisconsin, sister-in-laws Allie Hickey and Dorothy Smith. Also, many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Harry F. Dalton and infant daughter Mary Dalton; sisters, Sister Mary Hickey S.P. and Loretta Sweeney; brothers John, Br. Timothy (Richard) C.S.C., Br. Ferdinand (James) C.S.C., Robert, Vincent Russell, Peter Thomas and William Patrick. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 11, 2012 from 4 to 8 pm at St. Paul Hermitage in Beech Grove, IN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Paul Hermitage on Wednesday September, 12, 2012 at 11 am. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Feeney-Hornak Shadeland Mortuary. Memorial contributions in Martha’s name may be made to St. Paul Hermitage.
