Joseph B. Simmons II

Joseph Bernard Simmons II was born December 19, 1998 jn Indianapolis, Indiana to Joseph Simmons Sr. and Hope Coleman. Joseph was affectionately known by dad as "Joe" and mom as "Moe". Joe is known for his contagious smile that could change the atmosphere in any room. Although only 22 at the time of his passing, Joseph touched many lives. He attended elementary school at School #93 and Pleasant Run where teachers were given a run for their money and earned every penny of their paychecks. The teachers loved Joseph and the involvement and support his family provided. During the middle school years he attended Stonybrook Middle School. Joseph graduated from Warren Central High School in 2017 bringing much joy to his parents and siblings. Joseph traveled the United States as a member of the Indy Youth Achievers program that focused on college and career readiness. He was the winner of the best-dressed award for two years during the organization's formal dinner. From an early age Joe developed a life long love of skating. He was an avid skater and would regularly attend several sessions at local skating rinks. The relationships that Moe shared with his family were unbreakable. Dad and Joe share fond memories of going to the local YMCA and playing basketball. While Mom and Moe enjoyed reading the series Diary of a Wimpy Kid and skating. Mom jokes about the time she had to visit the skating rink and show Moe "how real skaters skate". Joe and his siblings loved jokingly talking about parents, inappropriate humor, taking vacations, and clowning around. On June 7, 2021 precious memories of Joseph became a treasure. He was preceded in passing by Harold Simmons (grandfather), Anna L. Pierson (grandmother), Harold Dewayne Simmons (uncle), Kevin Pierson (uncle), Robert "Bobby" Pierson Sr (uncle). He is survived by his parents Joseph Simmons Sr. and Hope Coleman; grandmother Maryetta Simmons; sisters Ashlyn Coleman and Chanel (Russtin) Trotter; brothers Antwane (Tamika) Simmons and Corey Simmons; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
