Jerome Francis "Jerry" Mobley, 78, died Friday, September 22, 2017. He was born October 16, 1938 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Clarence and Mary Anne (Adams) Mobley. Jerry graduated from Saint Meinrad Minor Seminary where he was an Oblate of the Order of St. Benedict before studying at Marian University. He taught and coached at St. Lawrence Catholic School for several years and then moved on to Ford Motor Company where he was a member of UAW Local 1111 before retiring after 32 years of service. As a child, he and his sister were a headlining tap dancing act for USO programs during WWII. He later would become more interested in golfing and painting, especially landscapes. He was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and never lost his passion for teaching in everything he did. The family and friends that he loved and cared for so well will miss him dearly.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Darla Morales Mobley; children, Barbara Patchett, Patrick Mobley (Susan), Robert Mobley (Amy), Elizabeth Andrews (Clint), Matthew Morales (Sandra), and Amanda Koch (Adam); siblings, Mary Anne Roseman, Kathleen Hofmeister, Clarence “Ed” Mobley, and Margaret “Peggy” Mobley; 20 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members and friends.
Memorial Visitation will be 4-8 pm Wednesday, September 27 at Feeney-Hornak Shadeland Mortuary, 1307 Shadeland Ave. Indianapolis, Indiana 46219. His Memorial Mass will be 11 am Thursday, September 28 at St. Simon the Apostle Catholic Church, 8155 Oaklandon Rd. Indianapolis, Indiana 46236.
