James was a U.S. Veteran and served in the Army.
James was a member of Eastern Star Church, where he worshipped over 30 years, He was a wonderful singer. James sang alto in the Men's Choir and sang often to his family and friends.
James was a member of Men of Standard Avid Bowler, he was very quiet but when he spoke, he captured the attention of everyone around him! James loved to play cards; and spades was his favorite.
James favorite food was fried fish, it was his dish! Family and friends will always remember his favorite quotes: “I'm going to put it to you like Pa brought it to me.” “Those who waste will live to want", and “You can lead a horse to the water, but you can't make him drink”
James is predeceased by his father John T. Seawood, mother Mary Seawood, brothers; John Henry
Seawood, Walter Seawood, Sandy Seawood, sisters; Lizzie Mae Joseph, Hattie Ruth
McKinney, Mae Rean Williams, wife Gay E. Seawood, and son Kelvin T. Seawood
James passed away on Sunday, September 25, 2022, and is survived by his brother Eddie Seawood, sister Ella Rean Sumlin, son Curtis Seawood (Charletta), daughter Karen Seawood-Robinson (Andre), grandchildren; Chad, Alisha, Curtis Jr., Adrien, Zoyi, Zavier ,DeVonte, Jhaden and Janiah. Great grandchildren; Adrien, Ariyan, Riley, Rickey, Ky’ree, Darian, Kaylie, Karrington, Nashir, Ariah, and
Harris, host of nieces, nephews and that FAVORITE NIECE.
A visitation for James will be held Saturday, October 15, 2022, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Crown Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery, 700 W. 38th St., Indianapolis, Indiana 46208, followed by a celebration of life at 12:00 PM.
