Gerald Hansen

Gerald Dale Hansen, 87, of Akron, Ohio, passed away on Friday, Sept. 27 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Jerry was born in Akron to Thomas and Della on March 19, 1932. He went to school in Akron. He married Gladys Vargo on Aug. 15, 1959 in Akron. He graduated from McKim Technical School, and worked at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company for 45 years. He was a veteran of the Korean War and served in the Air Force. A licensed private pilot, he was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association and the Sunset Flying Club. He was also President of the Goodyear Camping Club and a Cub Scout leader. Jerry is preceded in death by his brother Thomas and brother Charles and his parents Thomas and Della. Jerry is survived by his wife Gladys, son Craig and daughter-in-law Raquel; daughter Lisa and son-in-law Jim; grandchildren Brittani and husband Mike, Clara and Ryan and great-grandchildren Taryn, Camryn and Jocelyn. Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at Crown Hill Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 12, at Crown Hill Funeral Home with Army Chaplain Major Anthony G. Harris officiating, followed by military honors at Crown Hill Cemetery.
