Her caring ways and keen sense of humor made her loved by all who met her. She was a beloved member of the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians and was very proud of her Irish Heritage. Some of her happiest days were during trips to Ireland with her family.
She was born in Indianapolis, IN on August 31, 1926, the third of six children of Mary (Hegarty) and Patrick Carr. She attended Joan of Arc Catholic school and Saint Agnes High School. She married Paul C. Rickard and had two daughters, Mary Ann Gawlik and Theresa Byrd. After living in Wisconsin for seven years, the family moved to Indianapolis where she lived until her passing. She was a longtime member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and member of her bunco group for over 40 years.
Eva was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Patrick Carr; brothers, Frankie and Billy Carr; sisters, Mary Margaret Kimmel, Barbara Hadden, JoAnn Fox; and her husband, Paul C. Rickard.
She is survived by her daughters, Mary Ann Gawlik and Theresa Byrd; 4 grandchildren, Joshua and Jordan Smith, Morgan and Meredith Gawlik; 4 great-grandchildren, Amelia, Ava, Jordyn, and Averi Smith; two son-in-laws, Christopher Byrd and Mike Gawlik; 12 nieces and nephews and numerous friends.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 15th, 2023 from 5PM to 8PM at Feeney-Hornak Shadeland Mortuary, 1307 N. Shadeland Ave., Indianapolis, IN 46219. Services will continue on Thursday, November 16th, 2023 with visitation from 9AM to 11AM followed by an 11AM Mass at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 7243 E 10th St, Indianapolis, IN 46219.
