 Obituario de Emerson Macaulay Babb Jr.
Emerson Macaulay Babb, Jr., of Indianapolis, passed away December 4, 2021. He was born September 16, 1930 Norfolk, VA and grew up in Ivor, VA. He was born to the late Emerson M. Babb and Virginia S. Babb. He married Jane Stuart Ellis in 1952. Emerson served in the U.S. Army during 1951-53 as Second Lieutenant in Germany. He received his BS and MS degrees from Virginia Tech and PhD from Penn State in 1957. Emerson joined the Department of Agricultural Economics at Purdue University in 1960 and became the Ben Hill Griffin Professor of Agricultural Marketing at the University of Florida in 1985. He retired to Saint Simon Island Island, GA in 1992 and moved to Indianapolis in 1996 after the death of his first wife in 1995. Emerson married Helen Hawley Kuhnle in 1997. She died in 2019. During 1996-2008, he worked on short term development projects in 7 different countries and continued as a consultant on antitrust matters. Emerson is survived by his brother Paul C. Babb, sister Rosalyn B. Cox; daughters Stuart B. Mannon and Permelia B. Gibbons, son Russell M. Babb; five grandchildren: Antoinette Carter, Virginia Sides, Lee Gibbons, Ellis Mannon, and Joyce Mannon; and five great grandchildren, Cassidy Took Carter, Jane Macaulay Sides, Calvin Scott Sides, Perrin Babb Carter, and Emerson Jack Sides. The family will have a private memorial service and request no floral tributes. Those wishing to honor his memory should feel free to make a gift to the charity of their choice in his memory.
