Born February 10, 1926 in Indianapolis, Mom went to be with the Lord Tuesday May 22, 2012, at the age of 86, due to complications from pneumonia. Betty had lived in Folsom, CA for the past five years where she enjoyed family, friends and neighbors. Married in 1945 to Bill Shanks, the love of her life, who preceded her in death in 2007, she is with him again. Betty is survived by her daughters Phyllis Walker (David) of Greenfield, IN and Terri Richards (Dan) of Cameron Park, CA, grandchildren Melissa, Melinda and Daniel; 4 great grandchildren; 1 great, great grandchild; nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. Mom, we will miss your wit, your wisdom and most of all your love. We will see you again.
A celebration of her life along with Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 7243 East 10th Street. Interment will follow at Washington Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
