Edward was born in St. Clair City, MI to Stanley and Phyllis (Rose) Simpson on November 10, 1946. He graduated from Port Huron High School in 1965. He went on to Study at Michigan State University earning his Bachelors of Science in 1969. After college, he enlisted in the US Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1970. He was a finance manager for the US Postal Service until his retirement in 2002. Edward’s passion was with the church. He was involved in several groups and activities at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church. Edward had a passion for helping others. He also cherished his opportunities to work with Habitat for Humanity. Edward was a fan on the Detroit Red Wings, Detroit Tigers and Michigan State University football and basketball. He also enjoyed his travels through Europe.
Edward was proceeded in death by his eldest son Sean Michael Simpson, his parents Stanley and Phyllis (Rose) Simpson and his brother Gary W. Simpson.
Edward is survived by his children, Terrance Simpson of Indianapolis, IN; Kevin (LaTrish) Simpson of Lansing, MI; Meghan (Michael) Hagedorn of Salisbury, MD; five grandchildren; Helen, Grace, Iezekiel, Decator and Tylor; and two great grandchildren; Ella and Lily.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 18, 2021 from 3pm to 7pm at Crown Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery, 700 W. 38th St Indianapolis, IN 46208.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at 11am at Crown Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery, 700 W. 38th St Indianapolis, IN 46208. Rev. Dr. Regina B. Proctor of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church officiating. Cremation will follow the Funeral service.
