Deputy Dennis Pickens was born to Lucious and Bessie Pickens on June 8, 1968 in Indianapolis, IN.
Dennis graduated from Southport High School in Indianapolis, IN in 1986.
Dennis was a public servant for nearly 30 years. In 1991 he joined the Marion County Sheriff Department as a Deputy holding various positions.
Dennis was joined in holy matrimony to Janice D. Wells on August 21, 2010. With this union they had a blended family. They recently celebrated 10 years of marriage. He was a loving father, devoted husband and caring friend. He loved having family gatherings, playing cards, listening to music and traveling with his wife.
Dennis was preceded in death by his grandparents Frasier and Elnora Jingles, his parents Lucious and Bessie Pickens, his sisters Betty Mack, Bessie Pickens, and Jessie Woods, his brother William Pickens and his brothers in-law Willie Lee Futrell Jr and Floyd Johnson Jr.
Dennis departed this life on Monday October 12, 2020 at 11:15pm. The Lord blessed us with his presence for 52 years. He leaves to cherish his memories his wonderful and caring wife Janice Pickens, his daughters Joselyn Jones, Kywminsha Pickens, Shyla Rivers, Danielle Stockdale, stepdaughter Cierra Wells, and stepson Desmon Wells. His siblings Lucious Pickens Jr, Jettie (late Floyd) Johnson, Patricia(Parnell) Jones, Carl(Nartasha) Pickens, and Kevin Pickens. His mother in law Alberta(Rev. Peter) Lanier. His sisters in-law Tracy Smith, Nicole Smith, Vera Futrell, and Brandy(Jonal) Reed all of Indianapolis, IN. A host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends.
