Charles David Mathews

Charles David Mathews, Plainfield, IN, passed away on March 31, 2019 Charles was born on February 10, 1930 in Minneapolis, MN to David (Eastman) and Olive (Miller) Mathews. He graduated from Briercrest Bible Institute in Caronport, Saskatchewan, Canada, and pastored small churches in Nebraska, Kansas, Ohio, and Indiana. He also worked 10 years for Estes Design and Manufacturing in Indianapolis. Charles loved Bible study, expository preaching, old hymns and male quartet music. He was a faithful member of Burge Terrace Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Miriam (nee Friesen); two sons, David (Donna) Mathews of Xenia, OH and Tim (Kathy) Mathews of Plainfield, IN; former daughter-in-law Sharon Mathews of Indianapolis; six grandchildren, Karin, Jon, Joel, Corey, Grace, Abby; sister Marilyn (Burt dec.) Paul and niece Deb (John) Barrier, of Council Bluffs, IA. Viewing will be at Burge Terrace Baptist Church, 9345 Brookville Rd, Indianapolis, on Friday, April 5 from 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm with the memorial service to follow at 2:30 pm. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery on E. Washington St. In lieu of flowers contributions should be made to Good News Ministries, 2716 E Washington St, Indianapolis, IN 46201.
